On the 30th of April, Ministers John O’Dowd and Carál Ní Chuilín launched the “Recognise and Remove” campaign to highlight the dangers of concussion in children and young people. It follows on from the death of Benjamin Robinson from Carrickfergus in a school rugby match in 2011.

Concussion is a growing problem in contact sports including Gaelic Football and as such it is necessary to highlight the important steps which should be taken after receiving a head injury. The below leaflet contains information and guidance on dealing with a sports related head injury. It is always important to recognise the symptoms and remove the player from the game to receive professional treatment.
