Errigal Ciaran…………1-8
Drumragh…………….1-16

Drumragh reserves made it two wins from two with a good victory over Errigal Ciaran in Dunmoyle last Saturday.

Sean McGoldrick put Drumragh ahead with a point from play after a few minutes. Errigal Ciaran were quickly level but a foul on Gareth Starrs allowed Ciaran Donaghey to put Drumragh back in front, and it was a lead they would never let go of.

Drumragh soon got in for their goal. Gareth Starrs took a mark at midfield and the ball went through the hands of Barry Kirwan, Oisin McCullagh and Shane Colton before James Broderick finished past the goalkeeper.

Paddy Roche did well to split the posts after winning a ball in from Andy Colgan and he soon added another as Drumragh took control of the game.

James Broderick (2), Ronan McGale, Andy Colgan and Jude Campbell all put points on the scoreboard too in the lead-up to the half-time break.

At the other end of the pitch, the Drumragh defence were on top. Ciaran Donaghey stopped a couple of attacks from the home side, Mark Carroll and Oran Donaghy got in a couple of important tackles while Ryan McGaughey and Ronan McGale were strong in the central positions.

A goal just before the break for Errigal Ciaran left Drumragh with an eight-point lead at half-time.

Paddy Roche opened the scoring in the second half but Errigal Ciaran hit a purple patch getting the next five points.

Drumragh needed a score and got one via a Ciaran Donaghey free. A good kick-out from Paul Maguire found Gareth Starrs at midfield, his pass in was won by Ryan McGuigan, who in turn was fouled. Ciaran tapped the free over the bar.

That settled Drumragh down and they were able to take a measure of control of the game again. Jude Campbell kicked a point, Garbhan McKenna and Ryan McGuigan set James Broderick up for a nice score and Mark Sharkey added a quick double.

Errigal Ciaran responded with a couple of frees while full-back Ryan McGaughey dealt well with a couple of high balls into the square as Drumragh were able to keep a comfortable lead.

Martin Taggart concluded the scoring with a good point from distance after Sean Diamond’s pass into him.
