Drumragh senior men suffered their first defeat in this year’s Ulster Junior Club League away to Letterkenny Gaels on Saturday.

The home side made a strong start to the game and quickly built up a 1-3 to no score lead. They had other chances as well with Paul Maguire making a good save in the Drumragh goals, while Eoin McGread and Benny Drumm came up with important turnovers

Drumragh created a few chances too with Shane Devine hitting the crossbar and a few other efforts dropping short. They eventually did get on the scoreboard when Martin Taggart caught Malachy McManus’s pass inside, called the mark and kicked the ball over the bar.

Letterkenny added a second goal as half-time approached and they enjoyed a healthy lead at the break.

It didn’t take them long to go further ahead as they got in for two goals in a minute at the start of the second half. Daniel O’Neill almost replied for Drumragh but was denied by a good save from the Letterkenny goalkeeper.

The teams went score for score for a while with Martin Taggart on target for Drumragh with three placed balls. Shane Devine then nearly scored a goal only for the goalkeeper to make another good save.

Not long after, Martin Taggart reacted quickest to a dropping ball to finish to the back of the net for Drumragh’s goal before Shane Devine hit a fantastic score from out on the left.

Letterkenny answered back with 1-3 in quick succession while Martin Taggart set up Shane Devine for the final point of the game.
