Drumragh senior men beat Donaghmore in the league on Tuesday evening at Clanabogan

DRUMRAGH……….0-17
DONAGHMORE……0-5

Drumragh senior men won their second consecutive league game with an assured victory over Donaghmore at Clanabogan on Tuesday evening.

Donaghmore led early on with the game’s opening score, but for the majority of the first half, Drumragh were in control and went in at the break with a commanding nine-point advantage.

Daniel O’Neill brought Drumragh level with a brilliant point from play and shortly after Tommy Murphy put them ahead with a placed ball following a foul on Ronan Maguire.

Malachy McManus stretched out Drumragh’s lead while Martin Taggart caught Paddy Colgan’s ball inside, converting the mark that followed. Paddy himself then scored an excellent point, with a brilliant dummy solo in the lead up to it.

There was no let up from Drumragh with Malachy McManus, Tommy Mullin and Tommy Murphy (2) all on target. The defence were excellent too with Eoin McGread, Eamonn Kerrigan and Alex McGlinchey giving away nothing easy.

Andy Colgan set up Malachy McManus for a good point, and while Donaghmore scored at the other end, Drumragh finished the half on top with Tommy Murphy knocking over a mark, after he had run on to and caught Malachy’s fantastic pass.

Donaghmore got the first score of the second half with a long-range free but Alex McGlinchey quickly answered back with a good point from play. Tommy Mullin and Tommy Murphy tapped over frees for Drumragh, who almost got in for a goal, Daniel O’Neill’s shot saved well by the Donaghmore goalkeeper after a strong run.

Alex McGlinchey added another point and he too nearly scored a goal only to be denied by the goalkeeper again. Drumragh goalkeeper James Colgan came up the field and sent the resulting 45 over the bar.

Substitute Matthew Kerlin fired over Drumragh’s final score of the game after Ryan McGuigan and Tommy Mullin created the chance, before the Donaghmore goalkeeper concluded the scoring with a 45 of his own after James Colgan made a good save to protect the clean sheet.
