Drumragh U15 boys beat Urney in the league on Saturday

Drumragh U15 boys delivered an impressive team performance to defeat Urney in the league at Clanabogan Park on Saturday, their fifth win in-a-row.

The home side led from moment Dylan Lowry put the ball over the bar from a free after James Fyffe had been fouled. Lorcan McGrath then took a midfield mark from the kickout, delivered a clever pass into Dylan who kicked an excellent score. Dylan also scored the next two points of the game, with Conor McLaughlin and Dara Cox providing the assists.

Lorcan McGrath put over a couple of brilliant points from play before Urney got on the scoreboard with a good score. They had a chance to really get back into the game when they were awarded a penalty. However, Drumragh goalkeeper Callum McNamee stepped up and made a fantastic save, with Ronan Bresnahan completing the clearance.

Aidan McCarney stretched out Drumragh’s lead with a 45 after good pressure on the Urney defence from Dylan Lowry, Ronan Baxter and Dara Cox, while Ryan Baxter was also on target after good build-up play from Frankie Monk and Ryan Colgan.

Drumragh were playing some excellent football but also remained strong at the back with Matthew Barrett, Sean O’Donnell and Ronan Bresnahan prominent in the defensive effort.

Conor Gormley added a point and a goal in quick succession before Lorcan McGrath scored a brilliant individual goal, winning the ball at midfield, driving through the Urney defence and firing to the back of the net.

Conor Gormley got things going in the second half with a free while Aidan McCarney kicked a wonderful point from play in the next attack.

Drumragh introduced a number of subs and each one had a positive impact as the game headed towards its finish.

Joseph Taggart found the back of the net, and did so again not long after, raising highest to pinch the ball past the goalkeeper.

Urney responded with a couple of scores, but Drumragh kept up the pressure until the final whistle. Aidan McCarney put over another 45, Ryan Baxter kicked a point after a strong run while Conor McLaughlin won the ball back and pointed.

Further points from Lorcan McGrath and Conor Gormley completed an excellent victory for Drumragh.
