Clanabogan Park played host to the Tyrone Ladies U16’s on Saturday as they faced Down in the Championship Semi Final. Well Done to Coblaith McKenna & Tyrone who won on a very favourable scoreline. Below is the match report from the Tyrone Ladies GFA.
On the weekend that our County minors were confirmed as Ulster Minor A Championship finalists after the withdrawal of Down the County Under 16s will also contest their Ulster decider after a comfortable win over Down at Drumragh. Tyrone will now play Monaghan in that Under 16 final.
Saturdays clash with Down ended 7-15 to 4-5 with the visitors goals coming in the final quarter as Tyrone took their foot of the gas with the job done. From the off Tyrone signalled their intentions, Caitlin Kelly finding the net early on and adding a futher 1-2 before the break, Chloe McCaffrey hit 1-1 with Meave McElsoy also finding the net as Tyrone led 4-7 to no score. Jessie Heaney, Shannon Stephenson and Roisin Devlin adding points with the home defence not tested.
The Tyrone side pressed home in the second half with full forward Kelly hitting the net again to complete her hatrick McCaffrey added another goal as Heaney, McElroy and McKenna also hit points,
Brian McGinn and Kevin Bogle changed things around in the last quarter and to be fair the home side eased up allowing Down in for crucial scores but depite the best efforts of Leah Beattie who scored two fine goals there was never a doubt about the final outcome.
A more than comfortable outing at Clanabogan Park but now the build ups on to the Ulster final.
