Drumragh seniors finished the year off in style with a 4-20 to 0-6 win over Errigal Ciaran at Clanabogan last Saturday.
We built up a 0-6 to 0-1 lead early on with Benny Drumm, Martin Taggart (2), Shane Devine, Chris O’Doherty and Barry Fitzgerald all scoring. Errigal came back into it following a good spell where they hit three points on the bounce. But we managed to finish the half strongly with further scores from Benny, Shane, Barry Kirwan and Gavin Rodgers to lead 0-10 to 0-5 at half-time.
The second half was all one-way. Three quick points from Shane, Barry and sub Tommy Mullan meant the game was really over as a contest. We soon got our first goal through another sub Rory McBride. And it was a really good goal too. The easy point was on but Rory backed himself, drove on past a defender and finished nicely past the Errigal goalkeeper.
Errigal hit their only score of the half but Shane and Tommy responded with points before Barry got goal number two.
Benny, Shane and Rory all scored good points from play and then Rory got his second goal volleying the ball first time into the net after Tommy’s shot had come off the crossbar.
Barry scored another two points and Tommy concluded the scoring with our fourth goal. He won the ball and beat his marker before scoring. He put it right in the corner with the ball coming off the stanchion. It was a brilliant finish and there’s not a keeper in Ireland who would have saved it.
So a good end to what I think has been a good year. Five wins and two draws sees us finish the year in 13th position, a step in the right direction.
