Our Minor Girls kicked off the 2016 season on Sunday evening at Clanabogan Park when they faced Badoney. These two teams have a long rivalry facing each other in an U16 League Final and Minor Championship Final in recent years. Drumragh took an early lead with Claire McSorley netting the first goal of the season with Ellen McSorley adding a point minutes later. However Badoney responded with three successive points to trail by a point going into half time.
Badoney came out strong in the second half and took control of the game scoring a goal and three points unanswered. Drumragh responded to this deficit with a further two goals from Beth Donaghy and Coblaith McKenna while Eva McCaul and Sarah O’Neill added points. The game ended 3-4 to 1-7. The Girls face Cappagh next Saturday in their second game.
