Our Under 14’s continued their league campaign against Beragh on Thursday evening at Clanabogan Park. It was Beragh that made the better start to the game as they went two points up in the first couple of minutes. Drumragh dutifully responded when Kian Murphy successfully converted two free kicks following good play from Oran Devlin, Darragh Barrett and Ben Monk. The game was end-to-end throughout as both teams took their scoring opportunities. Strong runs from Beragh’s midfield pairing saw them hit the back of the Drumragh net in the tenth minute before Aaron Lynch struck cooly to level the teams once again just seconds later. The Sarsfields took the lead shortly after with a goal from Cormac Dolan and points from Kian Murphy, the result of great build up play from Matthew O’Donnell, Eoin Coyle and Cahir McAnenly. The teams swapped scores for the remainder of the half, Beragh hitting their next goal as the last kick of the half. HT score – Drumragh 2-6, Beragh 3-4

Kian Murphy levelled the game with the first point of the second half and further scores for the Sarsfields saw them take a four point lead. Beragh made use of their physical presence minutes later as they hit the back of the Drumragh net twice in quick succession to retake the lead. Great defending from Carraig McKenna, Brendan Quinn, Cormac McCann and Blaine Feeney restricted many of the oppositions attacks while Goalkeeper Ryan McCrystal pulled off a number of great saves. Drumragh went further behind when Beragh responded on the break to claim their next goal midway through the half. The Sarsfields hard work and determination showed in the final minutes of the half. Niall Maguire was on the end of a great ball into the box from Niall McCarney and palmed to the back of the net for his first goal. Minutes later Aaron Lynch closed the gap further when he struck low to the Beragh net, having been set up by Kian Murphy. Niall Maguire scored his second goal shortly after to reduce the deficit to two points when he found himself in space in the Beragh box. With injury time almost up, Drumragh had one last opportunity to win the game however were unlucky as the ball just slipped wide of the post. The game ended Drumragh 6-10, Beragh 7-9.
