Drumragh Seniors went down by 6 points to a slick Clogher team at Clogher on Sunday. The home team started quickly establishing a five point lead courtesy of a goal and two points in the opening 5 minutes. Drumragh fought back and points from Shane Cleary (2) and Paul Maguire reduced the deficit to two points after 11 minutes. Clogher regained the initiative with 2 points in a minute before adding a second goal despite an excellent save by James Colgan. A third goal followed on 22 minutes which effectively ended the game as Clogher eased into a 10 point lead just before the interval. Two late points from Shane Cleary and a James Colgan “45” were split by another Clogher point to leave the half time score Clogher 3-05 Drumragh 0-5.

The second half was much more competitive and Barry Fitzgerald reduced eh arrears on 32 minutes with a fine point. However, Clogher rattled over four unanswered points in an eight-minute spell. Much to their credit, the Sarsfields refused to buckle and stormed back with four unanswered points of their own courtesy of Martin Taggart, Shane Cleary (2) and Gareth McGrath. Both sides traded scores with Shane Cleary adding the Drumragh points before Barry Fitzgerald had the final say finishing to the net right on the hour following a fine move involving Gareth Haughey and Martin Taggart. Final Score Clogher 3-11 Drumragh 1-11.

The second half showing demonstrated the team’s spirit and commitment exemplified by solid performances by Eoin McGread and Eamon Kerrigan in defence and Martin Taggart and Shane Cleary in attack.
