A close first half saw Kildress lead 0-9 to 0-6 at half-time. Adrian Colton (2), Martin Taggart, Gareth Starrs and Ciaran Donaghey (2) were the Drumragh pointscorers in the opening 30 minutes. Goalkeeper Paul Maguire pulled off a wonder save to deny Kildress a goal in the first half as well.

Two early goals from Kildress in the second half meant they they really took control of the game. Drumragh responded with points from Martin and Ciaran and a good goal from Adrian.

However, Kildress stretched out their lead with two further goals and despite points from Ciaran, Martin and Malachy McManus, they held on for an opening day win.

A goal midway through the first half was the key score as Drumragh got their league campaign underway with a three-point defeat against Kildress at Clanabogan on Sunday.

It was a good performance from Drumragh who had the chances to take at least a point against last year’s Championship finalists.

Kildress led by two points, 1-5 to 0-6, at half-time. Drumragh’s pointscorers in that period were Shane Cleary (3), Shane Devine and Eamonn McCann.

Eoin Montgomery, making his senior competitive debut for Drumragh, opened the scoring in the second half with a good point from play.

But Drumragh could never manage to get back level with Kildress responding whenever the home side got within a point or two. Shane Cleary, Shane Devine and Tommy Mullin all pointed for Drumragh in the second half.
