Drumragh reserves earned their first win of the year with victory over Glenelly in Plumbridge on Sunday.

It was a tough game and it was only in the last 10 minutes that Drumragh were able to pull clear and make sure of the win.

The first half was a tight affair and it ended with Drumragh leading 0-6 to 0-5. Drumragh would have been further ahead only for a bit of wastefulness in possession and good defence from the home side.

Paddy Roche and Adrian Colton had points for Drumragh as the sides went score-for-score early on. A couple of frees from Ciaran Donaghey put Drumragh ahead for the first time, and further scores from Gareth Haughey and Gareth Starrs was enough to give Drumragh the lead at half-time.

Darragh O’Kane on the ball

Drumragh started the second half strongly and points from James Broderick, Ciaran Donaghey and Adrian Colton put them in control.

Glenelly scored a point midway through the half but Drumragh took over from then on. Gareth Starrs won a kickout and drove through for a fine score, a well-worked team move resulted in an Oisin McCullagh point and Benny Drumm kicked the ball over the bar from long-range.

Paul Maguire added two points and Drumragh created a few goal chances late on too only to find a Glenelly goalkeeper in inspired form. Nonetheless, Drumragh ran out good winners come the final whistle, picking up their first points of the season.
