Drumragh senior ladies are through to the championship last four following a deserved two-point win over Ardboe at Clanabogan on Saturday.

A goal from Kathryn Donaghey in the final 10 minutes was the key score of the game for Drumragh who now face Edendork in the semi-final this Friday.

Drumragh started the game off well and were soon into a 0-2 to 0-0 lead thanks to points from Beth Donaghy and Clodagh Loughran, who kicked the ball over the bar soccer-style off the ground.

Both sides missed chances but it was Ardboe who scored next with a free.

Drumragh were defending well with Joanne Barrett, Maria Harkin and Josephine Quinn coming up with a number of important interceptions. Goalkeeper Julieanne Quinn also dealt really well with a number of challenging high balls into the square.

Ardboe drew level with another free but Drumragh answered that with a score from Clodagh Loughran following a great catch and lay-off from Kathryn Donaghey.

A run of 1-2 put Ardboe ahead with the goal a fine finish from their half-back. Drumragh almost replied immediately with a goal of their own but the visiting goalkeeper made a good save.

However, a free each from Beth Donaghy and Neamh Woods meant Drumragh only trailed by two points at half-time.

Drumragh controlled much of the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Emma Harkin, Laura Harkin and Coblaith McKenna were getting forward to good effect and Breanna Breslin and Joanne Barrett dealing well with any Ardboe attack that they had to.

A foul on Grace O’Neill saw Beth Donaghy kick over a free and then Clodagh Loughran brought the teams level with another good point from off the ground.

The sides then exchanged points with Clodagh Loughran and Beth Donaghy on target for Drumragh.

Not long after came the goal. Kathryn Donaghey finished well past the Ardboe goalkeeper after good play from Clodagh Loughran, Sorcha McKenna and Clare McGread.

Ardboe brought it back to a two-point game ensuring a nervy finish. But good defending from Neamh Woods, Josephine Quinn and Maria Harkin made sure of the win for Drumragh and a place in the semi-finals.
