Drumragh senior ladies ahead of their championship semi-final against Edendork

Drumragh………………..0-14
Edendork…………………8-10

Drumragh senior ladies exited the championship in the semi-final stage at the hands of a strong Edendork team on Friday night at Clanabogan.

It was a tough result for Drumragh who played some good football throughout the game, kicking a number of brilliant points.

It was Drumragh who opened the scoring through Eva McCaul and Grace O’Neill soon added a fantastic point from play after a strong run through the centre of the visiting defence.

Edendork went ahead with their first goal and it took good defending from Maria Harkin, Breanna Breslin and Joanne Barrett in the full-back line to stop them from stretching out their lead. Neamh Woods also denied Edendork with an excellent block from close-range.

Drumragh were creating plenty of chances as well helped by strong play from Neamh Woods, Laura Harkin and Grace O’Neill. A foul on Eva McCaul allowed Beth Donaghy to kick the equaliser from a free.

A brilliant score from Neamh Woods gave Drumragh back the lead and she quickly added another great point from play at the end of a good team move involving Beth Donaghy, Clodagh Loughran and Josephine Quinn.

Two goals in a short space of time, however, turned the game in Edendork’s favour. But a smart pass from Coblaith McKenna set Beth Donaghy up for a good score and then a strong run from Coblaith allowed Clodagh Loughran to kick a nice point.

Edendork pointed despite a brave block from Emma Harkin on the goal line and they soon added another score. Drumragh had a couple of goal chances saved by the Edendork goalkeeper. They did have the final score of the half though, Neamh Woods finding Sorcha McKenna in a bit of space and she kicked the ball over the bar.

Edendork got the first point of the half with a free but Sorcha McKenna answered that with a good point from play after she was set up by Neamh Woods. Grace O’Neill then converted a free after a foul on Kathryn Donaghey.

Two goals for Edendork really put them in control of the game but Drumragh kept fighting and scored a good point from Kathryn Donaghey who was set up by Julieanne Quinn. Kathryn quickly scored another point from play.

Edendork stretched out their lead and forced Drumragh goalkeeper Eva McCaul into a very good save with the game nearing its end.

Drumragh had further scores from Neamh Woods and Grace O’Neill but Edendork kept the pressure on right to the end and claimed a place in the final.
