Drumragh seniors will play in this year’s Tyrone Junior Football Championship final after a deserved win over Drumquin in the semi-final at Healy Park last Saturday.
A goal 10 minutes into the second half had brought Drumquin level but Drumragh responded so well to this, finished the game strongly and secured a spot in their first final since 1999.
It was Drumquin who opened the scoring but Malachy McManus responded with a nice point from play having been set up by Eoin Montgomery.
Shane Devine put Drumragh in the lead with a point from out near the sideline and Ronan Maguire teed up Eoin Montgomery for another score.
Drumquin hit three scores on the bounce to go a point up but Shane Devine soon got in for his second point of the game. The teams swapped points with Eoin Montgomery scoring from distance for Drumragh.
Drumragh finished the half on top and a free from Tommy Mullin and a point from play from Cormac Norris gave them a two-point lead at half-time.
Drumquin opened the scoring in the second half but Drumragh responded with a brilliant score from long-range by Tommy Mullin.
Eoin Montgomery jinked his way past a few defenders to kick the ball over the bar. But Drumquin were soon level with a goal from their midfielder after a goalmouth scramble.
However, Drumragh didn’t let that bother them though and soon built up a three-point lead again.
Eamonn McCann showed good strength to score, Tommy Mullin sent a long-range free near the sideline straight over the bar and before hitting an excellent point from play.
Sub Martin Taggart kicked a point and Shane Devine added another and that was enough to see Drumragh advance to this weekend’s final.
