Drumragh……….2-13
Glenelly……………2-9
Drumragh reserves remain unbeaten so far this year after a hard-fought win over Glenelly at Clanabogan on Friday.
Drumragh led for most of the game, but the visitors battled back to lead by a point entering second half injury time. But Drumragh finished the game strongly and a goal from Gavin Quinn as well as points from Jonny Browne and Mark Carroll was enough to secure their fourth straight win.
The teams swapped points early on with Ryan McGuigan on target for Drumragh having been set up by Paddy Roche. Martin Taggart then played in Jonny Browne who finished to the back of the net. Ciaran Donaghey kicked a couple of frees as Drumragh settled well into the game.
A good team move involving Lee Brown, Ciaran Donaghey, Ryan McGuigan and Shane Colton ended with a point for Jonny Browne but Glenelly hit back with a goal and a couple of points. A Martin Taggart score, however, ensured Drumragh held a one-point lead at half-time.
It was Glenelly who made the stronger start to the second half and they quickly went in front. Drumragh fought back, however, first with a Jude Campbell point and then another free from Ciaran Donaghey.
Lee Brown reacted quickest to put the ball over the bar after Jonny Browne’s shot was blocked and Lee then beat the goalkeepr to a high ball for another point.
Glenelly kicked few points to which Drumragh responded with a Sean Diamond score after good play from Ciaran Donaghey.
The away side were soon back on level terms with a goal and a point gave them the lead.
But the Drumragh refused to give in and went up the field where Jonny Browne split the posts from distance for a brilliant equaliser.
Both teams were pushing for a winner with Oran Donaghy and Ronan McGale on hand to stop a couple of dangerous attacks from Glenelly. But is was Drumragh who edged in front. Ciaran Donaghey set up Gavin Quinn who coolly finished past the goalkeeper and Mark Carroll then came up from full-back to add an insurance point with time up.
