An excellent performance from Drumragh U15 boys helped them a brilliant away to Strabane last Saturday.
Five goals in the first half put Drumragh in a strong position at half-time, and it was the defence who stood up in the second thirty minutes to secure the win.
Conor Barrett got Drumragh off to the perfect start with an early goal. Strabane hit back with a couple of points, but Niall Maguire pointed for Drumragh. A terrific catch from Turlough Collins at midfield led to Niall Maguire being put through one-on-one with the Strabane goalkeeper and he made no mistake.
The game was end-to-end. Rory Dolan did brilliantly to win the ball ahead of several Strabane attackers while Ronan Bresnahan, Dylan Lowry and Conor Gormley did well.
Another fantastic catch at midfield, this time from Oisin Kerlin, created a goal opportunity for Frankie Monk who forced the goalkeeper into a good save.
Oisin Kerlin kicked a couple of good points from play, Frankie Monk and Oran Barrett combined to set up Fionn Collins for a point and Drumragh played some great football to build up a lead.
The Strabane goalkeeper made another good save from Conor Barrett but Niall Maguire was there to put the rebound over the bar.
Fionn Collins scored a quick hat-trick before the break to putting Drumragh into a commanding position.
Strabane put Drumragh under immediate pressure at the start of the second half and Drumragh goalkeeper Sean O’Doherty denied Strabane with a couple of good saves.
A brave block from Carraig McKenna stopped a Strabane goal although they did kick the resulting 45 over the bar.
Frankie Monk turned the ball over around the middle of the field and from that counter-attack, Conor Barrett set Niall Maguire up for a good score.
Niall Maguire converted a free and then added an excellent score from play after a good pass from Oisin Kerlin.
Drumragh were then awarded a penalty after Conor Barrett was fouled and Aidan McCarney stepped up putting the ball in the back of the net.
Strabane kept going and add a goal and a few points before the end. But the defensive efforts of Ronan Bresnahan, Lorcan McGrath and Dylan Lowry were enough to see Drumragh leave with both points.
