Drumragh……….1-13
Moy…………………1-6
Another terrific performance saw Drumragh senior ladies beat Moy at Clanabogan Park last Saturday evening.
It was their fourth win of the year as they continue their push for a play-off spot.
However, it was Moy who got off to the better start and they led 1-2 to 0-1 come the time of the first half water break. Sorcha McKenna was responsible for Drumragh’s score with a point from play after Rachel Cleary and Blanaid McGarvey had set her up.
But from then on, Drumragh began to take control of the game. First, Neamh Woods was unlucky not to find the back of the net, hitting the crossbar after a brilliant run. But then Julieanne Quinn took a pass from her sister Josephine and split the posts, Joanne Barrett pointed, as did Sorcha McKenna before Neamh set up Kathryn Donaghey to bring the sides level.
Moy did go ahead again despite a brilliant block from Joanne Barrett and save from Drumragh goalkeeper Oonagh McMackin. However, it was Drumragh who were in front at half-time thanks to a fantastic goal from Josephine Quinn who finished well to the top corner of the net. Coblaith McKenna started the move in defence with Neamh Woods, Eva McCaul and Kathryn Donaghey all involved.
Drumragh kept up that momentum at the start of the second half. Sorcha McKenna tapped over a free after a foul on Julieanne Quinn while Rachel Cleary scored a nice point after Grace O’Neill and Kathryn Donaghey had combined to create the chance.
The Drumragh defence were playing well, with the full-back line of Shannon Starrs, Clodagh Loughran and Edel Meenagh impressing.
A point from Beth Donaghy and a free each from Sorcha McKenna and Neamh Woods stretched out Drumragh’s lead while Moy tagged on a couple of points.
But Eva McCaul and Sorcha McKenna kicked further scores towards the end, ensuring a fully deserved win for Drumragh.
