A Chara,
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has lost a family member or friend, and to those who are presently in poor health or recovering from surgery. May God give you strength. Amen.
In March the sudden death of our past chairman and county committee representative Paddy Gallagher (RIP) sent shockwaves through the club and community. Paddy is missed around the grounds and will be forever in our thoughts and prayers.
Once again due to the pandemic our AGM is very different from what the norm should be. Having to continue via zoom meetings has had its impact of isolating members from being able to meet face to face. I wish to thank the executive committee and all the sub-committees for your continued promotion of Gaelic football and culture within the community, and help given in support within the wider community. I wish to thank our Covid officers, who maintained the responsibility of co-ordinating our activities in 2021.
Clanabogan Park is the hub of the community and as we see from the development is a real asset for the entire community to come to and enjoy the great outdoors. We don’t often think of the impact we can have on others, but looking at the work that goes on within Droim Ratha Na Sairséalaigh both on and off the field you as a club must take great pride in what you do and have achieved.
The jobs are far from done. There are always the cogs in the wheel that will require replacing to keep us on the right track. I encourage new volunteers to step forward and give it a go. There are so many benefits of volunteering, from being an opportunity to integrate and meet new people to promoting good health. Please contact any club member who will provide you with support.
I want to thank the senior ladies and men. Congratulations on winning the Junior Reserve Championship. You are the ambassadors of the club. You lead by example. What you do the youth will benefit, alongside yourselves. We don’t see the cold wet nights of training but be rest assured you have given us great enjoyment. It could take me all day to get ready for a game, or even the night before depending on the game in hand.
Thanks goes to all who helped within teams and management structures. The very best of luck for 2022.
Now in their 11th year, our Gaelic For Mothers And Others gives great benefits to our members. Thanks to all involved for their continued work. This year seen the introduction of Dads and Lads. I wish them the best
going forward into 2022. Both great initiatives for exercise and health and wellbeing.
I wish to thank our Youth team managers for their commitment and the giving of their time for the good of our youth. A special word of thanks to Róise Nic Dhaibhéid who sang Amhran na bhFiann at numerous finals hosted in 2021 at Clanabogan Park. Congratulation to all our members who represented our Club at County, College and Schools levels, may it be in a playing or administrative capacity.
A special mention to the newly elected President of Ulster GAA Ciaran McLaughlin (Strabane Sigersons). Wishing Ciaran many congratulations and best wishes in his new role.
I would like to thank our sponsors and funders that have supported us throughout the year, as well as those who have subscribed to Club Drumragh and have partaken in our lotto and fundraisers. Without their external support, we would not have been able to provide the standards and facilities that we at Drumragh pride ourselves on. We have a large membership of youth and young families within the club, which gives great hope for the future.
My thoughts and best wishes are with all our family and friends who are overseas presently. For anyone transferring, due to work, the road goes both ways. A warm welcome awaits you at Drumragh on your return.
I wish to extend my best wishes to those who were able to have their special wedding day. Congratulations to those families who have had new babies in 2021.
On reflection, I have been actively involved with Droim Ratha Na Sairséalaigh for 18 years. It has been a privilege. I can recall traveling on buses with Malachy Keenan and Dympna, say no more!! Winning our first ever Ladies U16 title, and going on to win many more with our ladies from U14 to senior level. Of course the winning was good, but the craic and memories are forever. Great times!
Being involved in many sub-committee over the years I have had great fun and made lifelong friends. My girls enjoyment of playing and being part of Drumragh got me involved and the friends made along the way has kept me involved. Thanks folks!
Finally, I want to thank you all for your help and support on many hurdles and challenges I and my family have had over my 18 years. You have helped me through the lowest and highest times. I will always remember
and be forever grateful for the support.
Take care and keep safe.
Go raibh maith agat!
