Drumragh U16 boys before their game against Tattyreagh on Thursday

Drumragh U16 boys remain unbeaten in the league after an excellent second-half display earned them a win over Tattyreagh in Clanabogan Park on Thursday evening.

Dylan Lowry got Drumragh up-and-running with a goal after Ryan Baxter’s clever pass created the opportunity. Oran Barrett then increased the lead with a nice point following good build-up play from Turlough Collins and Aidan McCarney.

Drumragh suffered an early setback when centre-half back Lorcan McGrath had to go off because of injury.

A well-worked point from Ryan Baxter stretched out Drumragh’s lead and came after Oran Barrett took another mark at midfield.

Tattyreagh got on the scoreboard with a point but Aidan McCarney answered back for Drumragh with a brilliant score from distance.

The away side added a free but Dylan Lowry went on to score his and Drumragh’s second goal of the game. Ryan Baxter won the ball back and his pass inside created the chance. Dylan then turned provider with his pass setting up Aidan McCarney for a point, Matthew Barrett winning the ball back in the half-back line to start the move for that point.

Drumragh were defending brilliantly with Shea Mullin and Ronan Bresnahan prominent in the backline.

Matthew O’Doherty made an excellent save when faced with an attacker one-on-one, however, the rebound fell for a Tattyreagh forward and they closed the gap with a goal. The sides then swapped points before half-time with Dylan Lowry on target for Drumragh.

Dara Cox added a great point with Tattyreagh replying at the other end of the field with a free.

Drumragh continued to be on the front foot, hitting some brilliant scores. A James Fyffe mark at midfield started a move involving Frankie Monk, Dara Cox, Turlough Collins and eventually Aidan McCarney who fired over. Aidan added another from long-range in the very next attack.

Drumragh introduced a number of subs, all of whom helped the team increase their lead. James Fyffe and Dylan Lowry grabbed a goal each, while midfielder Conor Gormley came up the field and split the posts.

Tattyreagh added a couple of points but Drumragh kept going and had scores from Aidan McCarney and Conor Gormley.
