ESKRA…………………..3-18
DRUMRAGH…………..1-13

Drumragh reserves were beaten by Eskra away in their first league game on Friday evening.

An entertaining first half saw the home side lead by two points at the break.

Drumragh got off to a quick start and opened up a 0-5 to 0-0 lead. Niall was also on target twice from placed balls. Oran McElroy and Oran Devlin set up Paddy Roche for Drumragh’s other score.

Eskra grabbed a point and a goal in quick succession to which Cahir McAnenly answered back with a well-worked score. A smart kickout from Drumragh goalkeeper James Colgan found James Broderick in space and he fed the ball into Cahir who confidently struck the ball over the bar.

The game was end-to-end at this point. Eskra took the lead with a goal and a number of points. Drumragh’s response at this time came from Ben Monk, who kicked a nice point after Paddy Roche and James Campbell had created the chance.

The home side stretched out their lead despite Ryan McGuigan, Niall McCarney and Ben Monk adding to Drumragh’s total. Oran McElroy was also on target after a strong run from full-back Eoin McGread.

The teams swapped points in first-half injury time with Niall McCarney converting a free, leaving the hosts with a two-point advantage at the break, following a terrific first half.
