Drumragh minor girls headed to Killeeshil on Tuesday evening and narrowly lost out following a thrilling, entertaining encounter.

Drumragh were boosted by the return of U14 county player Dana Coyle, who started at midfield alongside Mairead Corrigan, and they got off to the best possible start when Caoimhe McCarron found herself through on goal and she made no mistake with a composed finish.

Both sides in the first half kicked their share of wides, however, there was only two in it at the break thanks to a second goal from Rihanna Mullin, who also added a point.

The Drumragh rearguard and goalkeeper Aine MacRory stood strong in the face of constant attacking from Killeeshil. Lily O’Kane, Caitlin McCarron, Grace McCusker, Genevieve Norris, Iona Mills and Cara Kerlin thwarted many attacks, with skilled and determined defending.

One such attack started with a kick-out from Aine MacRory to Lily O’Kane, through to Grace McCusker, who fed Dana Coyle who carried the ball 50 yards forcing the Killeeshil goalkeeper to make a good save, with Caoimhe McCarron finishing the rebound.

Killeeshil were relieved to hear the final whistle, as Drumragh showed great character and resilience throughout the game. Other key members of the team on the night, Cora Walsh, Fianna McGuigan, and Oonagh Pancott every bit played their part.

An excellent game to view was enjoyed by both sets of supporters and well refereed by Dermot Monaghan from Augher.
