Drumragh U15 boys finished runners-up in the Tyrone Grade 2 Féile, held at Garvaghey last Monday.

Having beat Tattyreagh, Strabane and Castlederg in the group stages last Monday, Drumragh faced Moortown in the semi-final.

Early points from Ryan and Ronan Baxter gave Drumragh the lead, but Moortown battled back well to draw level.

A great score from Dara Cox put Drumragh back in front, and Dara then did well to win the ball back, fed Shay Donnell who struck the ball over the bar.

Ryan Baxter drove through the Moortown defence, was fouled and then kicked the free over the bar just before half-time.

A Moortown goal at the start of the second half brought the teams level once again. Drurmagh responded well to this, however, with a couple of Ryan Baxter frees after fouls on Conor and James Fyffe.

Half-backs Joseph Taggart, Connor McLaughlin and Aaron Duncan got forward to good effect. This led to good socring opportunities and Shay Donnell made no mistake when he was presented with one, finishing well for a goal. But Moortown refused to give in with Drumragh depending on some great defensive in the full-back line from Sean O’Donnell, Tiernan O’Donnell and Matthew Barrett.

Moortown did add their second goal of the game, but Mark O’Neill answered back for Drumragh with a fantastic after he brilliantly side-stepped the goalkeeper.

Moortown went looking for goals and Drumragh goalkeeper Matthew O’Dohery did well to prevent one by punching a dangerous high ball into the square over the bar, with the referee blowing the full-time whistle after the kickout that followed.

The final was against Stewartstown. They opened the scoring in the opening minutes, but Ryan Baxter equalised after a good team move that started with goalkeeper Matthew O’Doherty and also involved Shea Mullin, Ryan Baxter and Oisin Walsh.

Niall Gormley and James Fyffe helped Dara Cox put Drumragh ahead with a point, although Stewartstown regained the lead with three points on the bounce.

A Ryan Baxter score on the stroke of half-time left Stewartstown a point to the good at the break.

Stewartstown made a strong start to the second half, hitting 1-2 unanswered. Drumragh refused to give in, and despite scores from Ryan Baxter and Dara Cox, couldn’t get the goal they needed to draw level with Stewartstown.

It was a fantastic effort from Drumragh to get to the final with every member of the panel playing their part over the course of the six games.
