DRUMRAGH………….2-10
URNEY……………………2-7
Drumragh senior men played Urney in their opening league game last Friday and came away with a three-point victory.
A low-scoring first half at Clanabogan saw Drumragh lead by a point – 1-2 to 0-4 – at the break. Daniel O’Neill was the goalscorer while Shane Devine and Kian Murphy added the points.
Gareth McGrath and Daniel O’Neill hit early points in the second half, with the visitors responding at the other end of the field on each occasion.
Urney then took the lead with a goal. However, Drumragh responded brilliantly to this, hitting 1-5 in-a-row to take back control of the game. Ben Monk palmed the ball into the net from Daniel O’Neill’s pass, while Eoin Montgomery (2), Benny Drumm, Daniel O’Neill and Barry Fitzgerald all put the ball over the bar.
Urney kicked a free with Martin Taggart scoring a good point for Drumragh from the next attack.
The away side scored another goal in injury time, setting up a nervous finish. But Drumragh held on to claim the two points.
