Drumragh U14 girls beat Drumquin in the league on Thursday

Drumragh U14 girls produced another good performance to beat Drumquin at Clanabogan Park on Thursday evening.

Roisin Gormley got Drumragh off to the perfect start with an early goal following move that involved Dearbhaille McLaughlin, Dana Coyle and Aoibhinn Dolan. Eabha Coyle quickly doubled Drumragh’s lead with goal number two. Eabha did well to win Caitlin McCarron’s ball in, then raced along the endline before confidently firing to the back of the net.

Drumquin were a threat going forward too. Lily Keys in the Drumragh goal made a fantastic save to deny them a goal, while Roise McDevitt, Anna Clarke and Fionnuala Barrett each made some timely interceptions.

Shauna Murray and Eireann Boyle set up Roisin Gormley for a nice score while Caitlin McCarron added a great goal.

The away side got on the scoreboard with a good point, but the Drumragh defence continued to give little away, led by Keira McGuigan and Eva McGale. A brave block on the goal line from Niamh Colton was also a key moment towards the end of the half.

Jennifer Barrett opened the scoring in the second half with a good point from a tight angle. Drumquin responded with a point, but a goal from Dana Coyle increased Drumragh’s lead.

Drumquin kicked three points in-a-row and forced Drumragh goalkeeper Lily Keys into another excellent save.

Subs Olivia Montague, Lottie Gallagher, Beth Campbell, Leah Kelly, Mia McGale and Chloe McSwiggan all came on and helped Drumragh push on towards the end of the game. Dana Coyle got a brilliant point after a strong run, while Shauna Murray was on target with a goal after Hollie Sloan and Roisin Gormley had combined to create the opportunity. Shauna quickly added another point.

Drumquin got in for a well-worked goal with the last play of the game, but it was Drumragh who claimed the win.
