Drumragh U16 boys will play in the league final following a thrilling extra-time victory over Eskra in the semi-final at Clanabogan on Sunday.
Aidan McCarney opened the scoring in the game with a free, with a James Fyffe point doubling the lead.
Drumragh had their defending to do with Dara Cox and Ryan Baxter getting some great turnovers.
Eskra scored two goals to take the lead, but the Drumragh response was excellent. Conor Gormley took a great pass from Dylan Lowry and slotted the ball into the bottom corner, while a quick piece of thinking from James Fyffe put Conor in on goal, and he laid it across to Dylan who palmed the ball to the back of the net.
But back came Eskra, and two goals from them put them back in front. A strong point from Turlough Collins before half-time meant Drumragh only trailed by a point at the break.
Drumragh started the second half well with a brilliant goal from James Fyffe and a superb 45 from Aidan McCarney and so took an early lead.
Some subs came on – including Shay Donnell and Ronan Bresnahan – and they got in some vital interceptions and tackles.
Eskra scored a goal, to which Conor Gormley replied with a point to bring the teams level again.
Another point for Eskra put them a point with time almost up, but James Fyffe sent the game to extra-time with a good score under pressure.
In extra-time, Matthew Barrett made an excellent tackle to stop a certain score, while Aidan McCarney converted a free putting Drumragh a point up. Aidan then out a long ball into the box, which was caught by Ryan Baxter who slotted it into the net.
And with that, some terrific defending in the final couple of minutes left Drumragh in the league final, against Stewartstown this Saturday in Garvaghey.
