Drumragh U14 boys beat Pomeroy in the league at Clanabogan on Saturday morning.
In a tight first half, it was Pomeroy who opened the scoring with a point. But Ollie Hagan quickly put Drumragh ahead with a goal after good play from Shea Mullin, Sean Sloan and Conor Fyffe.
The away side came back with a goal of their own, but Matt Gallagher was on target with a free after Lorcan Starrs was fouled. Pomeroy hit two points in-a-row and could have been further ahead but sent a penalty wide.
Luke Hagan and James Donnelly combined to allow Matt Gallagher to send the ball over for a nice score. Pomeroy scored twice, but Drumragh finished the half on the front foot with Shea Mullin and Ollie Hagan hitting a point each.
Drumragh came out for the second half in a determined mood. Sean Sloan was unlucky not to score a goal with the Pomeroy goalkeeper making a good save. They were soon level though when Shea Mullin turned the ball over before splitting the posts from range.
Pomeroy went ahead again with a point, but Drumragh were defending superbly with Tiernan O’Donnell, Oisin Walsh and Padraig Gormley stopping a number of dangerous attacks. Matthew Barrett also made a brilliant goal line clearance, while goalkeeper Matthew O’Doherty dealt well with some high balls into the square. And Drumragh soon were able to take advantage of that at the other end of the field as Joseph Taggart set up Conor Fyffe for a goal.
Drumragh were very much on the front foot at this stage with Joseph Taggart, Se Corry and James Gallagher getting forward to good effect. The subs that came on played an important role as well. Eamon Barrett got in for another goal, as did Ollie Hagan after he took a great catch from a long ball in.
A foul on Lorcan Starrs gave Matt Gallagher to convert a free, and Matt won the kickout that followed and sent the ball to the back of the net.
Matt Gallagher finished the scoring with another fantastic goal, with a beautiful lobbed finish.
