Drumragh U14 boys beat neighbours Omagh after an entertaining league game at St Patrick’s Park on Tuesday evening.

The home side almost got off to the perfect start, only for Drumragh goalkeeper Matthew O’Doherty to make a great early save, with Matthew Barrett completing the clearance.

But Drumragh soon settled into the game and built up a lead. Lorcan Starrs and Tom Barrett combined to create a scoring chance for Matt Gallagher, which he took  with a stylish point from play. Matt then quickly added a difficult free from near the right sideline after Niall Burt had been fouled.

Drumragh were defending well with Tiernan O’Donnell, Padraig Gormley and Oisin Walsh breaking up numerous Omagh attacks.

Ollie Hagan increased the lead with a point after good play from Shea Mullin and Lorcan Starrs. Matt Gallagher and Conor Fyffe also added scores as Drumragh continued their confident start.

Omagh got on the scoreboard with a point, but Drumragh responded with a fantastic score. James Gallagher won the ball back and the ball then went in long to Lorcan Starrs, who won it out in front of his marker and laid it off to Joseph Taggart, who sent the ball over the bar.

Omagh registered another point, but Matt Gallagher converted a free after Shea Mullin had been fouled.

Omagh scored a goal with the last action of the half, leaving Drumragh with a two-point lead at the break.

Matt Gallagher converted another free, but Omagh were soon level, hitting 1-2 in a short space of time.

Drumragh responded well, however, with all subs having an impact. They retook the lead with a Joseph Taggart point after James Gallagher’s pass found him a bit of space.

Omagh fought back and went in front with two points. Drumragh, though, remained calm and were able to regain the lead. Joseph Taggart was on target, while Niall Gormley scored two late points to secure an excellent win for Drumragh.
