Drumragh minor boys beat Drumquin in the league at Clanabogan Park on Sunday afternoon.

Drumragh played some great football throughout the game, with their entire total coming from play.

Ryan Montgomery, Conor Gormley and Brendan Quinn kicked good points as Drumragh established an early lead. And they didn’t have to wait long for their first goal. And it was a great goal too, with Conor Barrett running onto Ryan’s pass inside before firing to the roof of the net.

Drumquin were on target with a couple of frees, but Drumragh responded through scores from Ryan Montgomery, Conor Gormley and Ryan Baxter, Ryan’s point coming following a strong run upfield from Oran Devlin.

The Drumragh defence had a good first half, with Carraig McKenna and Mattie O’Donnell impressing, and restricted Drumquin to only a few scores.

Drumragh goalkeeper Dylan Lowry started a move that involved Frankie Monk and Ryan Baxter, and which ended up with Brendan Quinn getting a point. Frankie then was sent through on goal and a composed finish gave Drumragh their second goal of the game. Frankie quickly added a point and another score from Niall Maguire put the home side in a strong position at half-time.

The second half went much the same way. The scoring got underway when Conor Barrett won the ball out in front, turned his marker and fisted it over the bar. Ryan Baxter kicked two points in quick succession while a well-worked team move involving Rory Dolan and Lorcan McGrath ended with Brendan Quinn putting the ball over the bar.

The teams went score for score for a while with Ryan Montgomery and Niall Maguire responsible for the Drumragh scores. Drumquin scored a goal, but Drumragh answered back when Niall put the ball over the bar when Ryan set him up.

The visitors closed the gap further with a goal and a point. But Drumragh, with a number of subs making an impact, finished out the game strongly. Aidan McCarney, James Fyffe and Dara Cox combined to allow Conor Gormley to score, Niall Maguire exchanged passes with Sean O’Kane to punch the ball over the bar, while Brendan Quinn concluded the scoring with a good point.
