Drumragh minor boys are through to league semi-final after a good quarter-final win over Stewartstown at Clanabogan Park on Sunday.
Drumragh got off to a wonderful start in the opening quarter, early goals coming from Rory Dolan (2) and Sean O’Kane, who capitalised on a goalmouth scramble to score.
Playing with the wind, Drumragh pressed constantly with the likes of Cahir McAnenly, Conor Barrett and Niall Maguire making it extremely difficult for Stewartstown to make it out of their own defence. And their efforts were rewarded when Conor Gormley added a fourth goal.
Ryan Montgomery and Niall Maguire were also on target with points as Drumragh led by seven points at half-time.
In the second half, Stewartstown had no option other than to lift their game. However, the Drumragh defence was well marshalled by Sean O’Doherty in goals, and stood strong with Lorcan McGrath, Carraig McKenna and Mattie O’Donnell impressing. Brendan Quinn at midfield helped supplement the excellent defensive work.
Ryan Montgomery tagged on a few frees after strong runs from Oran Devlin and Brendan Quinn, and a constant thorn in the Stewartstown defence was Niall Maguire, who worked trojan-like throughout, in true Maguire fashion. Niall and Conor Gormley hit some nice scores from play with the subs introduced helping see Drumragh into the semi-finals.
