Drumragh minor girls continue winning run

Drumragh minor girls continued their winning ways with a victory in Trillick on Tuesday evening, a game played in fine conditions, and well refereed by Luke Darcy of Tattyreagh.

Drumragh got into a blusterous start, accounting for 2-7 in the first half, leading 2-7 to 0-3 at the interval. First-half scorers were from Genevieve Norris, Rhianna Barrett, Caoimhe McCarron, Emma McCloskey and Aine O’Donnell. Aine’s point was a highlight. From a Lily O’Kane interception, the ball was carried upfield by Dana Coyle, who, in turn, fed Aine who coolly slotted the ball over the bar.

The Drumragh attack was grounded on excellent defensive work from the full-back line of Lily O’Kane, Fionnuala Clarke and Cara Kerlin, the presence of Mia Feeney at centre-half back, and the driving forces of wing backs Caitlin McCarron and Grace McCusker.

The second half proceeded with Dana Coyle and Mairead Corrigan continuing to show high levels of energy at midfield. Rhianna Barrett opened the scoring with a point followed by a Rihanna Mullin goal, and points from Genevieve Norris, Aine O’Donnell and Caoimhe McCarron.

Trillick continued to plug away, notching up three points whilst, in the Drumragh goal, Katie McCann made some excellent saves.

Goals from Genevieve Norris and Dana Coyle, after a long run from midfield, followed for Drumragh.

Throughout the game, the Drumragh half-forward line of Caoimhe McCarron, Rihanna Mullin and Aine O’Donnell set up many scoring opportunities.
