DRUMRAGH……….5-14 ROCK……….0-7
Drumragh reserves beat Rock in their first home game in this year’s league on Friday evening. Four first-half goals laid the foundation for the win, with Drumragh keeping up a good level of performance right to the final whistle.
The sides swapped early points with Martin Taggart responsible for Drumragh’s score. From there on though Drumragh dominated the half. Daniel O’Neill kicked a couple of good points, and then turned provider, laying on a goal for Gareth Haughey.
The Drumragh defence started the game in a strong fashion with the full-back line of Mattie O’Donnell, Sean McGale and Mark Carroll impressing.
Meanwhile, James Broderick, Ryan McGuigan and Benny Drumm were bombing forward at every opportunity and that eventually told on the scoreboard.
Martin Taggart caught a long ball in before firing over the bar and he then set up Cormac Dolan for goal number two. A brilliant bit of play from Blaine Feeney led to a converted mark from Martin and then Barry Kirwan came up the field to add to Drumragh’s lead after Brendan Quinn, Cormac Dolan and goalkeeper Ethan Maguire had been involved in the build-up.
Daniel O’Neill added a goal, Conor Kelly set up Martin Taggart for another, while further points from Gareth Haughey and Martin gave Drumragh a commanding lead at half-time.
Daniel O’Neill opened the scoring in the second half with a free after Barry Kirwan had been fouled, while Paddy Roche also kicked a nice point in the half’s opening stages.
The visitors scored two points in quick succession, but Brendan Quinn and Martin Taggart answered back for Drumragh, who were still creating plenty of chances.
Drumragh’s fifth goal came via Sean O’Kane who finished well from a tight angle. Sean McGale’s pass then led to a point from Paddy Roche while Cormac Dolan concluded the scoring with a great score from play. Two wins from two for Drumragh in what has been a great start to the year.
