Drumragh U14 boys beat neighbours Dromore in the league at Gardrum Park last Saturday morning.
The game got off to a quick start with both sides hitting two goals in the opening couple of minutes. The scoring got underway when Niall Gormley started a move by winning back possession in the full-back line. The ball was moved forward through the hands of Conor Murray, Lorcan Starrs and Arthur Barrett and eventually to Niall again who finished the move he started by firing the ball the net.
Conor Fyffe scored Drumragh’s second goal to level up the game after Dromore had gone in front. Lorcan Starrs then flicked a long ball in into the path of Eamon Barrett and Eamon put Drumragh ahead with a nice point. That lead was soon increased with an Ollie Hagan goal after Peter McGuigan and Ronan Barton combined to good effect to create the chance.
A foul on Lorcan Starrs allowed Matt Gallagher to tap over a free, to which Dromore responded with one of their own.
Lorcan Starrs and Ollie Hagan were on target again, as was Matt Gallagher who sent over an incredible score from near the sideline. Che Corry did well to win a kickout, and he then fed the ball into Conor Fyffe who sent it over the bar. Dromore were able to reduce the lead with a number of scores, despite a goal and a point from Lorcan Starrs, before half-time.
Dromore drew level with a point at the second half, but Drumragh enjoyed a period of dominance to re-establish their lead with the subs helping to do so. Matt Gallagher converted three frees on the bounce after fouls on Eamon Barrett, Cahir Keyes and Conor Fyffe. Niall Gormley’s clever pass then allowed Lorcan Starrs to send the ball over the bar while under pressure from the home defence.
Dromore hit back with a goal and were looked to go in front. However, Peter McGuigan, Oisin Walsh and Mark Walsh in the full-back line kept the home attack out. Drumragh goalkeeper Cayal Cafferkey also made two wonderful saves late on to protect the lead. And from there, Drumragh were able to secure the win with points from Matt Gallagher and Lorcan Starrs.
