DRUMRAGH……….0-18 | GLENELLY……….1-7

An excellent all-round team performance from 1 to 15 saw Drumragh senior ladies win their opening league game against Glenelly at Clanabogan Park on Sunday evening.

The first score of the game was a Beth Donaghy free after debutant Dana Coyle had been fouled. That was followed by points from Neamh Cleary, Caoimhe McCarron, Joanne Barrett, after an attacking run from full-back, and Aine McManus, putting Drumragh into a 5-2 lead.

It was 8-3 at the interval after points from Beth Donaghy, one from play and one from a free, and Neamh Cleary.

Some excellent defending from corner backs Clare McGread and Mia Gallagher, with evergreen Edel Meenagh and her sister-in-law Nicola Taggart solid at wing-half back, with Julieanne Quinn marshalling the defence well.

Midfielders Coblaith McKenna and Aine McManus were heavily involved in Drumragh’s best attacking moves, with Neamh Cleary, Emma-Cait Gallagher and Caoimhe McCarron doing well to create chances.

The pattern of the second half continued, albeit Glenelly came out strong scoring the game’s only goal.

Substitute Sorcha McKenna scored two points, with Neamh Cleary, Caoimhe McCarron, Beth Donaghy (two frees), Evie Gallagher and Dana Coyle marking her first appearance with the last point of the game.

A comprehensive team display from Drumragh leaving the management of Eamon Duncan and Mick Hurley content with their evening’s work. A special mention also to Rihanna Mullin, making her first start in goals.
