Drumragh minor boys made it three wins on the bounce with a good victory away to Moy on Sunday afternoon.
It was a fantastic game of football with every Drumragh player contributing greatly to the end result.
Aidan McCarney put Drumragh in front with a good point from play after Oisin McManus, Ryan Montgomery and Dara Cox helped create the chance. A quick double from Conor Gormley then extended the lead.
Moy responded with a point and could have had more only for good defending in the full-back line from Oran Barrett stopping them.
Ryan Baxter fisted the ball over the bar for another point, while Conor Barrett and Niall Maguire also scored as Drumragh continued their bright start to the game. Niall then got Drumragh’s final point of the half, but a goal from the home side meant the lead was down to two points at half-time.
Ryan Montgomery was on target twice at the start of the second half, once from a free and another from play. Drumragh then really took control of the game with two goals from two attacks. The first came from Aidan McCarney who finished well past the goalkeeper. And then Conor Barrett won the kickout that followed, drove through the Moy defence and fired the ball into the back of the net.
Moy always carried a threat with Drumragh goalkeeper Sean O’Doherty making a smart save to deny them a goal. Lorcan McGrath, Shea Mullin and Matthew Barrett were also working hard to stop the Moy attack.
The home side were able to close the gap with a number of scores. But again, Drumragh (with a good impact from off the bench) responded impressively with two more goals. Excellent pressure from James Fyffe allowed him to score, while Ryan Baxter got another after reacting quickest to a dropping ball in the square. Further points from Frankie Monk and James confirmed Drumragh’s victory as they continued their good form.
