STEWARTSTOWN……….1-3 | DRUMRAGH……….8-22

Drumragh senior ladies picked up another win following an impressive performance in Stewartstown on Sunday evening.

Drumragh played some brilliant football throughout the game, where they defended well and kicked some terrific scores in a good all-round display.

Beth Donaghy (2), Aine McManus, Coblaith McKenna and Dana Coyle scored early points for Drumragh before they hit two goals in quick succession, The first came after a wonderful team move involving Grace O’Neill, Neamh Cleary and Julieanne Quinn, with Sorcha McKenna applying a composed finish to the back of the net. Goal number two arrived in the next attack, with Dana the scorer.

The Drumragh defence made a strong start to the game too, with Edel Meenagh, Mia Gallagher and Clare McGread setting the tone with a number of clearances.

And the forward line kept the pressure on with Beth Donaghy and Neamh Cleary adding further goals before half-time, and Aine McManus, Neamh, Dana Coyle and Evie Gallagher all on target with points.

They had a few other chances too, but good defending from Julieanne Quinn, Josie Hughes and debutant Caitlin McCarron kept them out.

And Drumragh continued to impress going forward with all subs introduced having a positive impact.

Aine McManus scored a point, then set up another for Dana Coyle, who in turn, created a chance for Neamh Cleary to fire the ball into the net. Beth Donaghy was on target three times, while Caoimhe McCarron and full-back Joanne Barrett also added good scores from play.

The Stewartstown goalkeeper made a number of great saves denying Laura Jayne Donnelly and Caoimhe McCarron goals. Drumragh did. however, get in for their final goal of the game when Grace McCusker showed good determination to bring the ball past a few defenders and finish low into the bottom corner. Caoimhe quickly followed that up with a well-worked point from after Coblaith McKenna and Emma-Cait Gallagher had combined to create the chance.

The home side tagged on a couple of points, and in the last action of the game, they went through one-on-one on goal. However, Drumragh goalkeeper Rihanna Mullin made an excellent save to prevent them from scoring their second goal of the game, with the referee then blowing the full-time whistle.
