Drumragh minor boys beat Pomeroy in their first league game at Clanabogan Park on Sunday. A Dylan Lowry goal in the latter stages of the first half was the key score and separated the sides come the final whistle.
The first half was a tight contest. The teams swapped points early on with Conor Gormley and Rory Dolan on target for Drumragh. The pattern continued right throughout the opening 30 minutes, with Niall Maguire, and Dylan Lowry (2) tagging on points for Drumragh.
Then came the goal, Ryan Montgomery and Aidan McCarney combined to set up the chance for Dylan Lowry who finished low to the corner of the net. Pomeroy answered back with two points, leaving Drumragh with a one-point lead at the break.
Drumragh battled hard to protect that lead in the second half and restricted the visitors to only three points in that time. At the other end of the field, Ryan Montgomerry, Aidan McCarney, Dylan Lowry, Ryan Baxter and Connor McLaughlin all sent the ball over the bar securing the opening-day win.
