DRUMRAGH……….2-16 | CLANN NA NGAEL……….0-8

Drumragh senior ladies are through to the championship final following a brilliant semi-final win over Clann na nGael in Drumquin on Sunday afternoon.

It was a terrific display from Drumragh who thoroughly deserves their place in the decider.

Neamh Cleary put Drumragh in front with a brilliant goal and it was a lead that Drumragh would not lose. The sides swapped points for a while with Caoimhe McCarron, Aine McManus and Beth Donaghy moving the scoreboard for Drumragh.

Drumragh were able to increase their lead before the break with a strong end to the half. Dana Coyle kicked a super score, as did Aine McManus, while Caoimhe McCarron hit three good scores in quick succession with Coblaith McKenna, Shannon Starrs and Neamh Cleary helping create the opportunities.

The first half also saw a brilliant defensive effort from Drumragh, led by Joanne Barrett and Julie-Anne Quinn through the centre, with the Gallagher sisters Mia and Evie playing prominent roles as well.

Dana Coyle opened the scoring in the second half having been set up by Coblaith McKenna. Clann na nGael struck for a point, but Drumragh responded through Caoimhe McCarron and Aine McManus.

There was no let up in the level of performance at the back with Joanne Barrett, Caitlin McCarron and goalkeeper Rihanna Mullin making sure Clann na nGael would not get the goal they needed to get back into the game. And with that platform, Drumragh pushed right to the final whistle, with the subs doing their bit as well.

Beth Donaghy and Grace O’Neill both sent the ball over the bar, while Rhianna Barrett converted a free before a scoring a wonderful point from play from near the endline.

Defender Grace McCusker came up the field to score a good point, while Beth Donaghy had the final say of the game with the second goal. Drumragh march onto the junior ladies championship final, the first in the club’s history.
