Well done to the U14 Girls who won against Derrylaughlan

Drumragh Ladies U14 team got their league of to a flying start with a good win at home against Derrylaughan.

 

After a minute’s silence to show respect for the passing of Club President, Eugene Duffy, the girls made a strong start to the game. Some excellent defensive play by Carrie Dillon, Chloe Colton, Amy Cox and Hollie Sloan alongside u14 debutants Grace Hannigan and Aine Feeney allowed the forwards to grab scores through Lily Keys, Beth Darcy, Alana Murray and Erin Kerlin. Strong supportive play by Sally Ann McCabe, and Emeli Cox allow the home team to grow the lead before half time, to be winning by 5-05 going into the break.

At half time Myah Dillon and Lana Gormely added to the strong defensive display with first half keeper Amelia Lowry moving into a CHF position and scoring several scores to push the team farther ahead. Drumragh were winning their midfield battle with both Jennifer Barrett and Mairead Dolan covering the length of the pitch and both popping up with scores to add to Drumragh’s lead. Second half substitutions Ella Fyffe, Lainhan Donnelly, Amy Hutchison, Naomi Given and Mia McGale added some new legs to the team for the second half attack, while Chloe McSwiggan, Cora O’Neill and Cliodhna Donnelly successfully added to the defensive setup.

The away team gained some more possession in the second half, but Drumragh continued their strong performance by adding to their tally to finish on a final score of 12-15 to 0-00.

Special mention to the girls who have stepped up successfully into the squad to make their u14 deput in this game, Grace Hannigan, Aine Feeney, Ella Fyffe, Cora O’Neill, Amy Hutchison, Mairead Dolan, Cliodhna Donnelly and Erin Kerlin
