Drumragh U14 boys lost to Omagh on Saturday

Drumragh………………..3-11
Omagh…………………….4-13

Drumragh U14 boys were knocked out of the championship on Saturday following a good battle with Omagh at Clanabogan.

Drumragh had done well to recover from a seven-point deficit with about 10 minutes to go to draw level. However, a couple of late scores for Omagh decided the game in their favour.

Ryan Montgomery and Niall Maguire kicked a free each early on following fouls on Conor Barrett and Ryan. Ryan also added a great point from play as the teams went point-for-point in the opening stages.

Omagh went into a three-point lead and would have been further ahead only for a good save from Drumragh goalkeeper Sean O’Doherty. Drumragh were under a lot of pressure during this time with Ryan Baxter, Rory Dolan and Carraig McKenna dealing well with it. Lorcan McGrath also made a wonderful goal line block to deny Omagh a goal.

Ryan Montgomery added a free after Aidan McCarney was fouled and Conor Barrett and Oran Barrett set Niall Maguire up for a point. Omagh replied with a point but Niall ensured Drumragh had the lead at half-time with a goal. He showed good anticipation to intercept an Omagh kickout and finished well past the goalkeeper.

Fionn Collins scored two goals for Drumragh against Omagh on Saturday

Omagh retook the lead with a goal at the start of the second half and soon added a point. Fionn Collins though had the teams level again not long after with a goal following a good exchange of passes between himself and Ryan Montgomery.

A run of 2-1 put Omagh in control but Drumragh refused to give in and showed great determination to soon be back level.

A foul on Ronan Bresnahan meant Niall Maguire was able to kick over a free and Niall then added a good point from play. A team move involving midfielders Oisin Kerlin and Turlough Collins ended up with Fionn Collins getting his second goal of the game, leaving three points in it.

Niall Maguire scored a couple of frees and then Conor Gormley set Fionn Collins up for the equaliser.

Omagh though finished the game well and despite a further point from Ryan Montgomery, it was Omagh who progressed to the next round.
