Omagh based solicitor firm Patrick Fahy and co have thrown their weight behind the Tyrone ladies football championship and the action really kicks on this weekend . The sponsorship  has been a welcome boost and speaking at the launch last week County chairman Martin Conway paid tribute to them for their support of all things gaelic games. A new aspect of the senior football championship this year will be the awarding of a golden boot to the championship top scorer, this award sponsored by teamtalkmag.com will add a bit more excitement to this keenly contested series. One semi-final spot has already been confirmed with Omagh securing a bye when the draw was made, they await the winners of the champions St Macartans and Aodh Ruadh.

Cappagh and Errigal get the action underway on Wednesday evening with Errigal fancied to advance. The winners of that tie will face the winners of Cill Iseal and Carrickmore in the last four.

Carrickmore and Kileeshill meet in the first of a double bill at Dunmoyle on Friday and the focus for St Colmcilles is very much on getting back to the final after last years final loss. Again they could well have too much in the tank for the Cill Iseal outfit.

Next up at 8-15pm will be an intriguing tie, again the county champions St Macartans with an abundance of quality all over the park will start favorites but Dungannon will have no worries about facing the division one leaders. There was little between the sides in their league meeting but the Macs remain unbeaten this term.

Maybe Dungannon don’t have the household names but they will get on with the job, their workrate has been notable this term but that said out of seven games they have only two wins and two draws. It would seem that the champions will just have too much in the tank.

Among some of the other games this weekend is Drumragh against Loughmacrory in the junior championship, Trillick against Pomeroy in the intermediate grade and one of the ties of the  intermediate championship the clash of Sperrin Og and Glenelly.
