Drumragh U14 boys and their management after qualifying for the league semi-final on Saturday

Drumragh………………..6-12
Badoney………………….0-10

Drumragh U14 boys qualified for the league semi-finals with a comprehensive win over Badoney at Clanabogan on Saturday morning.

Both sides knew the winner of this game would secure their place in the last four, making Drumragh’s performance all the more impressive.

Drumragh got off to a quick start and led through points from Fionn Collins and Ryan Montgomery but a couple of frees brought Badoney back level. It took good defensive play from Rory Dolan and Ryan Baxter in the full-back line to stop them from going ahead.

But Drumragh soon took control. Conor Barrett was denied a goal with an excellent save from the visiting goalkeeper (one of several he made during the game) but Fionn Collins did find the back of the net not long after.

Oran Barrett set Fionn Collins up for a score, Oisin Kerlin scored a nice point after good play from Lorcan McGrath while the Badoney goalkeeper made another fine save from Fionn.

Sean O’Doherty made a good save of his own at the other end of the pitch and Ronan Bresnahan stopped a coupe of dangerous attacks from the away side. Three scores in-a-row though brought Badoney back to within two points.

But Drumragh finished the half strongly. Conor Gormley kicked the ball over the bar with the outside of his right foot following a good turnover from Turlough Collins, Niall Maguire showed good determination to get a goal and Fionn Collins also got a goal after good pressure from Conor Barrett created the opportunity. A good block from Carraig McKenna on the goal line helped Drumragh to a nine-point lead at half-time.

Ryan Montgomery pointed following a good team move involving Aidan McCarney and Niall Maguire, Oisin Kerlin found the top corner of the net for a great goal and Ryan added another nice point from play.

Drumragh kept the pressure on right to the final whistle and had further points from Niall Maguire and Oisin Kerlin while Fionn Collins got in for another goal after good play from James Fyffe.
