Drumragh U15 boys ahead of their game against Omagh

Drumragh U15 boys lost to Omagh in the league at Clanabogan last Saturday.

It was a tough defeat in a game where there was never much between the sides.

Omagh opened up with a couple of points but Drumragh took the lead with a goal from Fionn Collins. And what a goal it was. Fionn took possession of the ball around midfield and took off for goal. He powered past a few tacklers and then fired past the Omagh goalkeeper.

The away side responded with two more points to retake the lead and it took good defence from Rory Dolan and Ronan Bresnahan to stop them from going further ahead.

Conor Barrett pointed for Drumragh after good play from Niall Maguire and Turlough Collins made the chance.

Omagh came back again with two points in quick succession. Drumragh though were unlucky not to add to their tally. The half-back line of Conor Gormley, Carraig McKenna and Lorcan McGrath were providing a good attacking platform for Drumragh and they helped create chances for Fionn Collins and Dylan Lowry who were both denied by good saves from the Omagh goalkeeper.

Oisin Kerlin took a great mark at midfield and from that attack, Frankie Monk passed the ball off to Aidan McCarney who was fouled. Niall Maguire kicked the resulting free over the bar.

Niall Maguire then brought the teams level with a great point after he received a good pass from Conor Barrett.

Omagh had one last chance to retake the lead before half-time and launched a high ball in towards the square. Drumragh goalkeeper Sean O’Doherty, however, took a spectacular catch over the head of a few Omagh forwards and with that, the referee blew the half-time whistle.

The second half began with Omagh on the attack, and despite a brave block from Carraig McKenna, they took the lead with a point. They soon added a couple of frees to establish a three-point lead.

But Drumragh were quickly level. It started with another excellent run from Fionn Collins, he popped a pass off to Oran Barrett who gave the goalkeeper no chance with a cool finish.

Omagh kept the pressure on though and Ronan Bresnahan and Oisin McManus needed to be alert to stop Omagh getting in for a goal. They did score a couple of points though to go in front.

Fionn Collins converted a free after Conor Barrett was fouled having caught a long ball in as Drumragh looked to get back even. Drumragh did create a few goal opportunities towards the end of the game and were unlucky not to take them. Omagh, meanwhile, tagged on a couple more points to secure the win.
