Drumragh U14 girls after their game against Badoney on Sunday
Drumragh U14 girls lost out to Badoney in Plumbridge on Saturday.
An exciting opening 30 minutes saw the teams go in at the break level.
Genevieve Norris gave Drumragh the lead after a few minutes with a free following a foul on Lily O’Kane.
Badoney, however, went up the field and went ahead with a goal. Olivia Kelly responded for Drumragh with a point after good play in the full-forward line from Nora McCluskey and Eva McGale.
The teams went score-for-score for a period with Rihanna Mullin and Lily O’Kane on target for Drumragh. Rihanna kicked a good long-range free after Fionnuala Barrett was fouled while Lily also converted a placed ball after good build-up play from Dana Coyle and Grace McCusker.
Rihanna Mullin then levelled the game again with a nice point after a good pass inside from Genevieve Norris found her in a bit of space.
The Drumragh defence were performing really well. Fianna McGuigan and Cora Walsh, in the corner-back positions, broke up a few Badoney attacks while goalkeeper Tammy Donnell also made an excellent save.
Fionnuala Clarke won the ball back for Drumragh, starting a move that involved Cara Kerlin, Mia Feeney and Dana Coyle. The ball eventually came to Rihanna Mullin and she was able to score a great goal.
A couple of points from the home side concluded the first half scoring.
Badoney took a firm grip of the game at the start of the second half with a scoring burst.
Genevieve Norris had the Drumragh response with a good goal. She soon added another with a fantastic finish having been set up by Sadhbh Duncan.
Badoney were able to stretch out their lead with a couple of goals. Good stops from Mia Feeney and Cora Walsh prevented further goals.
Drumragh kept battling and were unlucky not to have added to their tally before the end having created a few opportunities.
