Drumragh U15 boys beat Beragh on Sunday after a superb performance

A fantastic performance from Drumragh U15 boys saw them beat Beragh in the league at Clanabogan on Sunday.

Drumragh were in the right mood straight from the beginning. Turlough Collins won the ball from the throw-in, passed to Lorcan McGrath who in turn set up Fionn Collins who finished past the goalkeeper for the opening goal.

Niall Maguire then cut inside along the endline and punched the ball over the bar and Fionn Collins goaled again after good play from Frankie Monk, Aidan McCarney and Lorcan McGrath.

The Drumragh defence remained vigilant with Rory Dolan and Oisin McManus prominent in the early stages. Goalkeeper Dylan Lowry also did well to deal with a high ball into the square while under pressure.

Fionn Collins completed his hat-trick with a fantastic solo goal while his brother Turlough pointed after good play from Oisin Kerlin and Conor Barrett. Niall Maguire also tapped over a free as Drumragh continued their excellent start.

Oisin Kerlin took a big mark at midfield and from that the ball made its way to Conor Barrett who found the back of the net. Fionn Collins scored another two goals before half-time.

Ronan Bresnahan, up from full-back, kicked a lovely point after an end-to-end move involving Rory Dolan, Conor Gormley, Oran Barrett and Aidan McCarney, while Oisin Kerlin was on target twice and Niall Maguire also raised a white flag before the half-time whistle.

Beragh got through for a couple of points and it needed interventions from Carraig McKenna and Oisin McManus to prevent them from scoring a couple of goals.

Drumragh continued in the second half where they left off in the goal. Oisin Kerlin found the back of the net, Conor Barrett set up Kristian Devine for a point and Niall Maguire also kicked a nice score.

Beragh answered back with a few points but James Fyffe and Conor Barrett combined to create a goal chance for Oisin Kerlin and he made no mistake with it.

Fionn Collins and Oisin Kerlin added further points and then a wonderful pass from Lorcan McGrath put Niall Maguire one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he placed the ball in the bottom corner of the net. Niall quickly scored a point as did Oisin.

Beragh scored a couple of goals and could have had a few more. Carraig McKenna blocked a goalbound shot while Ronan Bresnahan dispossessed a Beragh forward just as he was about to shoot. Drumragh were still creating lots of chances and Fionn Collins and Dara Cox forced the Beragh goalkeeper into good saves.

Aidan McCarney hit a stylish point off his left foot having been set up by Fionn Collins and Matthew O’Doherty and that proved to be the last score of the game. A brilliant performance from Drumragh and a result to match.

Scorers: Fionn Collins 5-1, Oisin Kerlin 2-4, Niall Maguire 1-5, Conor Barrett 1-0, Turlough Collins 0-1, Ronan Bresnahan 0-1, Kristian Devine 0-1, Aidan McCarney 0-1
