Drumragh U14 girls before their game against Strabane on Sunday morning

Drumragh U14 girls lost to Strabane in the league at Clanabogan on Sunday morning.

Drumragh took an early lead when Roisin Gormley found the back of the net. They were unfortunate not to extend that lead having created a number of goal chances through good build-up play from Caitlin McCarron, Olivia Montague and Eireann Boyle.

The home side were defending brilliantly too with the full-back line of Roise McDevitt, Niamh Colton and Fionnuala Barrett impressing. Drumragh goalkeeper Chloe McGale also made an excellent save when faced with a Strabane attacker one-on-one.

Strabane went in front with a couple of goals midway through the half. Drumragh almost responded immediately with Caitlin McCarron, Anna Clarke and Lily Keys combining to create a goal chance for Roisin Gormley, who was denied by an excellent save by the Strabane goalkeeper.

The away side managed another few scores to stretch out their lead before the half-time whistle.

Both sides had their moments at the start of the second half without registering a score. Dearbhaille McLaughlin, Caitlin McCarron and Chloe McSwiggan broke up a number of Strabane attacks, setting Drumragh on the move. Shauna Murray, Jennifer Barrett and Roisin Gormley did well for Drumragh up front in the opening stages of the second half.

Strabane increased their lead, with Shauna Murray responding for Drumragh with a free after she had been fouled. That came after good build up play involving Eva McGale, Hollie Sloan and Keira McGuigan.

Lottie Gallagher and Dearbhaille McLaughlin set up a goal chance for Eabha Coyle and she made no mistake with a composed finish. Anna Clarke followed that up with a brilliant goal, placing the ball in the top corner of the net following a good team move.

However, Strabane finished the game on the front foot, adding a couple of scores to their winning tally.
